Quiet

I have created some audio for an art piece that was displayed in the Bonnington building. The piece consists of words projected in a loop onto a wall all to do with either quiet or loud. He wanted me to make a sound that would reflect this contrast that was also quite unpleasant. Above are pictures of the piece and you can listen to the sound we came up with below.

Thoughts about my advert

I have been working on my idea for the advert for my film for a short while and was trying to make something with a lot of editing and cuts that was quite long and told part of the story and not all of it. I thought I was getting somewhere although never quite getting anything I thought was interesting enough to make someone want to watch the film whilst not giving too much away. Now having thought about these two premises; making it interesting without giving too much away I have completely re-thought my advert. I have begun editing and really like what I have made. instead of being long it is only thirty seconds long and contains a lot of sound. It is essentially the sound of a heartbeat with a black screen with second long flashes of the film paired with loud piercing sounds followed by the title of the film with an even more piercing sound. It's use of blackness and sound effects to grab the viewers attention only to show them a second long glimpse of the film fulfills both these needs. The ad is now extremely watchable and has only about 7 seconds of actual footage from the film in it at all. I have yet to add the finishing touches but plan i plan to add everything i have made to this blog after the hand in date.

Interactive Trailer Plan

I have begun thinking about my interactive trailer and have decided to keep it quite simple. I was thinking about what its main function was and decided this was to use interactivity to give the viewer the sense they were really engaging with the film and it's ideas without them seeing too much of it and spoiling their enjoyment of it or not making them want to watch it. With this in mind i plan to keep it's content to a minimum whilst using the interactivity to make it seem more substantial than it really is. Here is my plan

Added Scene

Having now completely edited all of the footage I planned shoot and looked at my film I have to decided to add one extra scene. This is firstly because the link between two scenes in my film, a running scene and an indoor scene did not work as well as I anticipated. And also I feel that the viewer does not have enough closeness to the main character. There seems to be something missing about the way the main character is shown, you don't seem to have had enough chance to feel or understand him for the weirdness of the film to make any sense. So I have decided to film another scene, luckily there is around thirty seconds spare within my six minute target and I think I can trim a little bit more to fit this scene in. It will simply be an extension of the scene it precedes but with a lot of close ups. I plan to film the whole scene as one shot so it almost feels as though you are there with the character. The whole aim of this scene is to make the audience feel and understand how mad and exhausted the character is. Although I did not plan this scene from the start I now think it may be a defining part of the film and am very excited to see how it turns out. I am also planning on asking my actor to actually run really far and run straight into the scene so he himself is actually exhausted hopefully helping him to act the part more realistically.
